WHAT FIGURE?
August 21, 2026

A late Friday night.
I didn’t have lunch so, I ate dinner at 6pm.
I say it’s good for my figure. What figure?

I keep looking at my camcorder every time I leave the house. I keep thinking, “I need to document these thoughts. I need to know how I felt before I change my life.” I never do it. Is there some part of me subconsciously that is reluctant to change my life? If I were to document the metamorphosis, I would actually have to turn into a butterfly. I would have no choice. I can’t just be this caterpillar in my little cocoon, safe and happy… comfortable.

I’ve been reiterating the sentence, “I’m trying to do the impossible,” more times than I can count this year. It’s true. To dream the impossible dream requires something that I know I possess but… will dispossess everything else. My time, my relationships, my sanity. Will it be worth it? Absolutely.

But it’s never a guarantee.
That’s why I work hard.
That’s why it’s Friday night and I’m on this blog.

I’ve got Going Global this week, then Brisbane for Big sound the week after. I’ve got a few moves ahead and a summer awaiting its fate. Even if I have this little caterpillar inside terrified, my soul, my body feels the inevitable pull of destiny.

I’m awake enough to know I have to move.

MEANJIN
September 4, 2026

Another late Friday night.

This time, from the airport. Three days in Meanjin. Three days that felt like stepping into some superhero universe where everybody's superpower was music. Whether that be as an artist or as a titan of industry. That's certainly how it felt to me. I was some elevated version of myself wearing a mask to conceal what... I don't know. My heart and mind were open as I searched for genuine connection. Enjoying each day as I walked the Valley, basking in springtime sun, backed by favourable winds. At night, we stepped into sonic worlds built by musicians with dreams like me. To make it, to be the greatest.

But navigating brief, fleeting moments is a science I have yet to master or completely understand. It's beautiful, I see in it the art. To spend even five minutes with somebody, eye to eye, bearing your soul, with club music blaring in the background. Are they listening? Can they picture the world I've just invited them into? Or are they thinking about what they're having for lunch?

Of the hundreds of people I encountered, I met a handful whose light made the journey worthwhile. From dinner companions to jet-lagged panelists and community leaders, the essence of my experiences at Going Global and Big Sound have been the lessons. That final night, I locked myself in my room and wrote so much. Inspired. Clear.

On the flight back home I knew it. That this was going to be a BEAMING SUMMER.
